There are many varieties of fishing line available on the market today. However, over the years there has been quite a consolidation of manufacturers and while the number of brands of line has stayed relatively constant the number of manufacturers has dwindled. One example is that Stren and Trilene are now made by the same company, so this may explain why some of the characteristics of your favorite have changed.
It may prove beneficial to try different brands periodically just to know what is out there in the marketplace. You never know you could find something that will work better for you.
