I am sure some of you, maybe a lot of you, have had a chance to fish Lake Okeechobee in Florida. It is truly an amazing fishery, last time I was there I was told it means “big water” in Seminole and it truly is, the average depth is less than 9 feet, and you cannot see the opposite shoreline it is so massive. It is over 700 square miles and unless you know someone who fishes it all the time be sure to look up one of the many guides who work on the lake. You will not be disappointed!
The “Big O” holds some of the largest and healthiest bass in the country. There are a lot of governmental, environmental and sports organizations that work very hard to maintain the quality of the lake. I am sure there are fisherman who have fished the lake all of their lives who don’t know all the “spots” to fish. Like bass, fisherman are creatures of habit and familiarity is important. So when you go you will not feel pressured and be prepared for one of the best bass fishing experiences of your life.
